The Importance of 3D Art

As author Seth Godin once said, ‘Art isn't only a painting. Art is anything that's creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator’.
The traditional idea of art is constantly changing; it is a concept that transcends definition. As the art world is constantly developing so does our understanding of what art is. In 1917 when Marcel Duchamp tried to enter a porcelain urinal entitled ‘Fountain’ into the exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists it was rejected on the basis that it wasn’t art. However there are now 12 commissioned replicas of this controversial piece in museums all over the world, including the Tate Modern in London. This is the perfect example of how the criteria for art is changing, something that was once rejected from a small independent exhibition is now on display in some of the world’s biggest galleries.
That is why we at C Gallery feel that it is important to display more than the traditional sense of ‘art’. Our collection of Australian artwork includes many different art forms in a wide variety of materials. We aim to celebrate all different types of art as the art world moves quickly and we want to keep up.
